On Hiatus

I’ll be MIA for God knows until when for review. It’ll be an in-house review meaning I have to live in school, well, school dormitory for the time being. It’s meant to be fun and easy though. Well, basically, no internet and no any other activities for me.

REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW.

Bokura Ga Ita

Overall, it was an awesome Manga. And when I say awesome, it was a real-deal, no kidding, sparkly eyes, totally worth-it kind of awesome.

Back when I discovered Bokura Ga Ita, it was an accidental encounter in YouTube. I started with Anime, got intrigued by it’s ending and read the Manga. A lot happened and all really did began in the train platform. Although one must say, it ended there, as it literally was, the real story began when Yano left for Tokyo.

The story isn’t anything light and refreshing. It has darkness, mysteries, heartaches and more heartaches. They all got hurt and moved on. They learned how to love again. Learned how to let go and to live again after all what they’ve been through.

They were there.

Another great Manga has ended. It will always be a top favorite.

Heroine Shikakku

Once there was a weak, innocent girl who fell in love with this popular guy with such good looks who’s nice and all. But then suddenly the evil bitchy rival who is a gorgeous girl, tries to steal the boy to the heroine. At the end of the manga and after millions of traps, plans, made by the rival that were always all an epic fail, the couple finally gets to rest and live happily ever after and the rival is gone, or even becomes friends with them. The end. Typical Shoujo Manga, replicated a thousand times.

But what if the Manga was chosen to be told from the rivals point of view. Welcome to Heroine Shikkaku! A cliché manga told in a non cliché way with a unique heroine.

Hatori here, the bitchy, mean, self-centered brat heroine is what we misunderstand in most of the Shoujo Mangas we’ve seen. Her point in life makes us understand what she’s going through. Hatori is the typical girl that shoujo readers love to hate, that always gets on the middle of the main couple. The main couple is obviously in love and the main boy obviously does not love Hatori. But since the main guy is the male protagonist, he, of course, would have to possess typical male shoujo characteristics, like for instance the popular “ I don’t love you, but I do care about you, because I am a really nice guy”. But here, there’s not even a faint sparkle between them.

But what to do when you start to see “the other side”? The Mangaka does an amazing job (at least until now) in portraying and conveying Hatori´s feelings, emotions and personality. Its so well done that its impossible for you not to like her, but you cant help to love her. She is more realistic than any heroine, and she is adorable in her own way, even being bitchy and selfish. You can’t stop feeling terrible when you watch the main hero and his goody girlfriend in their own private dreamy world which the “villain” cannot break apart, and for the first time, you wish she would. The goody girl, Adachi, suddenly starts to annoy you (although you can’t hate her because she is so kind). The main hero, Rita, starts to annoy you even more, because he is still the protagonist. And you start wishing he was replaced by another guy. But at the same time you secretly keep hoping that someday, somehow he will look at Hatori.

Overall, it’s such a great Manga to read. We can’t always root for something superficial like on what we always see on the outside. We may have to think again and see what’s someone may truly feel. Trying their hardest yet failed and seeing someone got it all without even trying is annoying. And if you have seen Kimi Ni Todoke, this Manga is pretty much from Kurumi’s point of view.

Bokura Ga Ita Chap. 69

The second to the last chapter! I’m sad! :’(

Anyway, just recently, a blogger or two posted something like Nanami losing her memory and all shit like that. I was furious because of course, I don’t want it that way. Just what rotten luck do they have if it happened.

So this is what really happened:

Nanami got hospitalized. Takeuchi, Sengenji and Yano were panicking on what happened. On the outside, Yano’s looking so calm but what he feels on the inside is what hit me. He was already preparing for the worst and I do really feel for him. He’s actually got the worst turn of events on the way to Nanami. Just what is that?! Anyway, he got there the next day and Nanami hasn’t gotten any amnesia at all! Oh the relief! It got dramatic since then showing flashbacks of the past until their feelings reached each other.

Next chapter’s going to be the final. I WANNA CRY~~~

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai

There’s nothing quite like the loss of a loved one for changing a person. We always feel that death is such an alien concept, it exists but is somehow detached and unrelated to our own little world until it comes knocking on our doorstep. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (We Still Don’t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day), tries to show us just how powerful an effect death can have on us.

The keyword is ‘tries’, and for the most part, AnoHana succeeds. It is one of those anime that illustrates perfectly the idea that the relative distance to perfection is inversely proportional to the obviousness of huge, glaring flaws. For everything that AnoHana does just beautifully right, there is usually something little it gets horribly wrong.

There’s no denying AnoHana is fine piece of work. Everything from animation to sound, characterization to story are all quality material and together form both a visually and emotionally satisfying experience. The anime is far past the point of debate about whether watching it would be enjoyable and worth one’s while, because it most certainly is.
